what about banks?
?? there are these institutions which have the business model of leveraging their capital 12 times or more and investing the borrowed funds in wholly illiquid high-yielding debt instruments. I suppose the case could be made both ways about long term returns in the banking industry, but I think that a set of intuitions which completely rule out the possibility of a Barclays, HSBC etc have to be erring on the side of pessimism.
