Quote of the Day:
O my brethren, am I then cruel? But I say:
What falleth, that shall one also push!
{Oh meine Brüder, bin ich denn grausam? Aber ich sage:
was fällt, das soll man auch noch stossen!}
Thus Spake Zarathustra, Friedrich Nietzsche

In my opinion, the greatest German philosopher in our time is Franz Beckenbauer. No other persons forms the thinking going on in Germany more than him.

I think there's an Impossibility Theorem here: One can't know the best philosopher, because if one knew the literature you would be too detached to see the practical effects of the philosophy (most philosophers are pretty obtuse about practical issues), while if he knew some that had interesting and practical insights (Hayek, James), he wouldn't know how novel or derivative these insights were.
